Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has issued a land acquisition notice to Raaj Kamal Films International, the production company of actor and politician Kamal Haasan, for his Phase II project. The Phase II project to build nearly 120 stations is worth around Rs 61,000 crore and is due to start shortly.
According to The Hindu, one of the stations built under Phase II is located on Bharathi Dasan Road, where the office of Raaj Kamal Films International is also located. Speaking to TNM, sources from Raaj Kamal’s office said a legal consultation was underway to decide on the way forward. About 10 feet in front of the office is marked in the subway project, they added.
CMRL planned to build a station on an area of approximately 600 square feet. In addition to the Raaj Kamal Films International office, notice has also been served on other buildings in the area. The planned station at Bharathi Dasan Road is part of Phase II of the project, including the Light House road section at Poonamallee.
Recently, CMRL and Larsen & Toubro signed a contract for the construction of a corridor from Nehru Nagar to Sholinganallur, for an estimated amount of Rs 1,021 crore, under the Phase II project. Under it, a 10-kilometer-long viaduct is to be constructed through 10 metro stations located at Nehru Nagar, Kandanchavadi, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Mettukuppam, PTC Colony, Okkiyampet, Karapakkam, Okkiyampet Thoraipakkam and Sholinganallur, according to a report by the Indian Express.
Meanwhile, Phase II project works have started in many parts of the city including Madhavaram, Purasawalkam, Adyar, Medavakkam, Vadapalani, Arcot Road, Greenways Road, Poonamallee and Porur.
