Dana Honor launches production company and strikes overall deal with Universal Television


EXCLUSIVE: Dana Honor, respected television producer and head of development, has signed an exclusive global agreement with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. As part of the pact, Honor will develop and produce projects on various platforms under its new Defining Eve Productions banner.

Honor spent five years as a key executive producer at Aaron Kaplan’s independent studio Kapital Entertainment. Throughout her tenure, she produced over 300 television episodes and produced 24 pilots, 14 of which were series. His many series executive producing credits at Kapital include ABC’s A million little things and Women of the MovementCBS’ The neighborhood, by Starz shining valley and NBCs American car. Honor left Kapital late last year to, as she said at the time, “take a well-deserved break to spend time with my family before deciding what to expect next.”

No More Deadline

Prior to working at Kaplan, Honor served as Senior Vice President of Comedy Development at 20th Century Fox Television, where she developed comedy series such as Modern family, fresh off the boatproduced by Kapital life in pieces and The last man on earth.

“Dana is an extraordinary producer with an enormous track record of success,” said Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television. “She’s everything – she’s got great taste, amazing relationships with writers, and she gets shows on the air!”

Honor is replaced by Logan Clare at Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
