‘The Green Knight’ star Dev Patel has launched his own production company, Minor Realm, which is on a mission to “explore and grow the creative landscape of voices and talents that are too often overlooked, bringing to life to these stories more broadly”. ”
Patel has already recruited two people for the new banner: Sony Pictures’ Lakshmi Iyengar and producer Samarth Sahni, both of whom will report directly to Patel.
Minor Realm, which will focus on both film and TV, already has an initial deal with ShivHans Pictures, developing and creating projects with ShivHans CEO and Founder Shivani Rawat and President of Production Julie Goldstein.
Iyengar most recently served as vice president of global acquisitions and production at Sony Pictures, working on films such as “Ammonite,” “Late Night” and “The Wedding Guest,” which Patel starred in. During her career, she also worked at Universal Pictures and Focus Features.
At Minor Realm, Iyengar will assume the role of Executive Vice President, Head of Production and Development, overseeing the film and television development slate.
Sahni joins Minor Realm as Executive Vice President, Production, Film and Television Projects Production. He has previously worked on major studio releases including “The Dark Knight Rises”, “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” and “Life of Pi”.
Sahni is the producer of Patel’s first film, “Monkey Man”, recently acquired by Netflix. He was also a producer on ‘The Wedding Guest’ and Patel’s ‘Home Shopper’ short.
