Hollywood actress and award-winning producer Nitu Chandra launches her Abu Dhabi production house as an ode to her Indian roots

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Hollywood actor, Nitu Chandra Srivastava launches his film production house, Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC in Abu Dhabi. The initiative is a tribute not only to Gandhiji who started his Satyagraha, a form of non-violent resistance, in Champaran, but also to Nitu’s Indian roots which played a major role in establishing her as an actress and producer. to success.

Coming from a middle class family with no film background, Nitu worked her way through different Indian film industries to make her mark as an actress. Champaran Talkies was Nitu’s way of giving back to the film industry and to the people of India whom she had won over through her acting. Nitu started Champaran Talkies in Mumbai, India in 2010 with his brother, Mr. Nitin Chandra, a nationally award-winning screenwriter and director, with a vision to bring quality cinema to Indian audiences. Together they wanted to change the negative image of films from Bihar, Nitu’s home town.

This vision became a reality when Champaran Talkies became the first production house to secure the one and only national award in the Maithili language in India. Since then, Champaran Talkies has produced several documentaries and feature films.

Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC in Abu Dhabi is an extension of the Mumbai production house. The sole aim of the Abu Dhabi studio is to produce international films that appeal to global audiences. To achieve this, Nitu plans to build an all-female team of talented female technicians above the line who can be instrumental in producing quality content and paving the way for women in a male-dominated industry.

Empowering women and recognizing their value is the best thing we can do to uplift society. With this all-female team at Champaran Talkies Studios, I aim to provide greater access to women in the field of filmmaking and film production. I believe that I can find the right talent from different ethnicities for my projects thanks to the international integration of the UAE and the presence of more than 200 nationalities in one space. I am grateful to the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, Mr. Abhitanshu Khare, my lawyer from London, and Mr. Abdulhamid Al Balooshi of A. Albalooshi Advocates and Legal Consultants, who were instrumental in establishing my studios here in the UAE.,” said Nitu Chandra Srivastava, Director, Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC.

Speaking of this association, Mr. Hans Fraikin, Abu Dhabi Film and Television Commissioner said, “We are delighted to welcome Hollywood actor and award-winning producer Nitu Chandra Srivastava to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Champaran talkies Studios is a one-of-a-kind female production house that plans to create groundbreaking and inspiring international productions, and we are extremely happy to support Nitu in this unique endeavour. It is also appropriate that we announce this association on the momentous occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. We believe this partnership will create international opportunities for women around the world in Abu Dhabi.

The announcement of the launch of the studios is only the beginning of a beautiful story that the team wishes to convey through their artistic talents. Champaran Talkies Studios is already in talks with writers from different parts of the world and will soon finalize the projects.
