Could Jennifer Hudson be the next big talk show host? According to new reports, the American Idol alum is presenting a new show to potentially debut after Ellen Degeneres wraps up her final season.

According to Variety, the show would be produced by the same crew as the Degeneres show, although it is not a continuation of that show but rather a brand new series.

Jennifer Hudson presents her own talk show

Variety reports that the Hudson show would be Warner Bros. new flagship daytime talk show. TV after DeGeneres ended the airing of its own show. The Ellen DeGeneres Show Executive producers Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly were reportedly showrunners on the Hudson test show, which was filmed on the DeGeneres stage.

The outlet also reports that meetings are taking place this week about the show and things are apparently improving. Deadline reports that the show is premiering in the fall of 2022, adding that the Hudson show could end up airing back-to-back with The Kelly Clarkson Show, which takes over the DeGeneres time slot.

Sadly, hosting a TV show won’t help Hudson achieve that coveted EGOT status. She already has an Emmy for her work as an executive producer on Baba Yaga. She’ll need a Tony to finish things off.

Could Hudson be back to back with Kelly Clarkson?

How cool it would be to see two famous American Idol alumni who organize their own talk shows every afternoon? Clarkson won the show’s first season, and Hudson was one of the fan-favorite contestants for season 3.

The two singers also served as coaches on The voice. Clarkson has been a part of the US version of the series since Season 14. Hudson has coached Season 13 and Season 15, and she has also been on the UK version of the series three times.

Jennifer Hudson recently played the role of music legend Aretha Franklin in the film Respect. Her last original studio album was in 2014, but she sang several of Franklin’s most iconic songs on the biopic soundtrack.
