CHENNAI: After the Madras High Court banned Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and more than 1,000 websites from viewing or copying Kamal Haasan’s star “Vikram”, released on June 3, without permission, the production house of superstar Raaj Kamal Films International is on high alert.

The production house has informed all Internet service providers and sites that strict legal action will be taken if the film is copied or transmitted.

Madras High Court Judge, Judge Saravanan, on a petition filed by R. Murali Krishnan of Raaj Kamal Films International, prevented 29 ISPs including BSNL, Vodafone idea, Airtel and Reliance Jio and 1308 websites from copying or to transmit without authorization “Vikram”, the complete film or in parts.

The film produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj with Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahad Fazil playing lead characters is set for a worldwide release on 1000 screens on June 3.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Vijayan Subramanian, told the court that when the film was released on June 3, the websites would illegally copy, record, download, reproduce, transmit and communicate the copyrighted film.

The plaintiff also said that the 1308 websites have the potential to download and allow third parties to copy, reproduce, distribute and display the film through 29 ISPs, which amounts to copyright infringement. of the applicant.

‘Vikram’ is one of the most anticipated films of 2022 and Raaj Kamal Films International is concerned that if the film is copied or reproduced, it will result in significant financial loss, including for those with whom the producers have made deals for the purpose of marketing, promotion, communication, etc.
