A local company specializing in beautifying food for marketing campaigns will soon invite the public to taste its creations. The Norr agency launches a restaurant.
Norr, which has a production studio in northwest Portland, has expanded across the river as it prepares to open Norr Kitchen at 920 NE Glisan St. Takeout and delivery service is scheduled to start on October 6.
The space, originally designed to create, test, and film cooking footage for clients like Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel, will now provide food for Portlanders who will likely be more interested in flavor than being find out if their take-out is photogenic. .
Thanks to Executive Chef and Director of Culinary Operations Matt Hobbs, Norr should keep his promises. Hobbs has experience in several renowned restaurants: he served as a chef at the Dossier restaurant in Vitaly Paley’s downtown hotel, Rosa Rosa, before the pandemic forced its closure, as well as Executive Sous Chef at the Michelin-starred Blue Duck Tavern in Washington, DC
Norr promises a menu of beloved classics and regional specialties made from sustainable ingredients. Initial offerings include ditalini with fennel and rapini pork sausage, a Tuscan kale salad topped with crispy chickpeas, and a smoked tomato risotto topped with pomodoro sauce. Hobbs expects the menu to change with the seasons.
Takeout and delivery will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and you can place orders by calling the kitchen or using DoorDash and Postmates.
In the coming months, Norr Kitchen plans to host intimate, paid dinners hosted by Hobbs.
