The Batman Production Team Wants To Make ‘The Best Batman Ever’

To Reeves and Clark’s credit, “The Batman” feels like a legit banger so far, even if it’s getting to the point where there have already been two different cinematic Batmen in the past decade alone. It helps that Reeves’ film avoids rehashing the Caped Crusader’s origins for the umpteenth time in favor of telling a story that’s often been glossed over in past Batman movies: what Bruce Wayne looked like when he was still mastering his crime-fighting gig?

As Reeves told Empire:

“We’ve seen a lot of great stories about Bruce Wayne witnessing the murder of his parents and then trying to find a way to deal with it by perfecting himself in Batman. But I wanted to do a story where he’s already gone through origins and doesn’t don’t know exactly how to be Batman yet. It’s a sophomore story. And I wanted you to connect with him. Not just as Bruce, but as Batman.

The trailers for ‘The Batman’ make it look a lot like a David Fincher-esque serial killer thriller where the main character is Batman, which is also refreshing and similar to how Nolan approached the franchise, especially with “The Dark Knight” (which, as has long been pointed out, is basically like a reimagining of Michael Mann’s “Heat”, only with the Caped Crusader and the Joker as hero and villain). Reeves can still overcome our collective bat fatigue after all.

“The Batman” hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
