UTA signs Erik Nelson and his production company Creative Differences – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed award-winning filmmaker Erik Nelson (Terror and Glory: 1945) and his production company Creative Differences for global representation in all areas.

Nelson is an IDA award winner who recently directed and produced the feature documentary Discovery+ Terror and Glory: 1945, which focused on the final months of World War II and its aftermath. He previously wrote, directed and produced the World War II documentary The cool blue for HBO Max – also at the helm A gray statea prescient look at conspiracy culture, released in 2017. All three films hold a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nelson is also best known for his collaborations with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Werner Herzog. The duo produced four films together, including the Oscar-nominated Meetings around the world, graying man, Cave of Forgotten Dreams and In the abysswith Herzog narrating Nelson’s animated feature Dinotasia and exec producing A gray state.

Nelson won his first IDA Award for Best Limited Series in 2012, for Docuseries Death corridor, which he produced. He has also been recognized throughout his career with a Cinema Eye Honors Award nomination, as well as nominations for the Gotham Awards, Business and Financial Reporting Emmy Awards, and News & Documentary Emmy Awards, with both graying man and Cave of Forgotten Dreams winning the New York and Los Angeles Film Critics Awards, among other accolades.

Prior to his work as a filmmaker, Nelson served as Senior Vice President of Documentary Features for Lionsgate Films, where he produced high-profile projects including Leonard Cohen: I’m your man, Facing Ali and The United States against John Lennon, among others. He has also written cultural commentary articles for the Los Angeles Times, THE weekly and Review of trade fairs.
